My device says it's unable to cast


There’s a few things to check if you’re getting this error message:

  • Is your device connected to the same wireless network as your Chromecast?
  • Does your Chromecast have a strong wireless connection? (if not, try moving it closer to the router)
  • Is your broadband speed at least 1.5Mbps?
  • Do you have iOS 7.0+ for your iPhone or iPad / Android 4.0+ for your Wi-fi enabled Android smartphone or tablet?

If all of the above seem ok, it’s worth restarting your Chromecast – by unplugging it and plugging it in again.
